ABOUT THE SERIES

If staying out of trouble was the plan, the town he loves to hate has other ideas, as the movie Hank is hired to write stars a bad boy hip hop mogul extraordinaire who wants Hank for his wingman. Meanwhile Karen's remarried and Becca's dating an insufferable 20-year-old version of Hank. Can Hank go home again and keep his sanity in tact? Don't miss the all-new season five!
Who is Hank Moody?
Famed novelist and New York City transplant Hank relocated to LA after his acclaimed book was optioned for a movie. Since then he's juggled the demands of Hollywood with the desire to write his own material, all the while performing a complicated dance with on-again/off-again girlfriend Karen and raising his rebellious daughter Becca. But he never stops owning his vices drink, drugs and women with a refreshing sense of honesty and unapologetic candor. He's holding it together while falling apart, and he doesn't mind it one bit. What have I missed so far?
Hank's LA adventure has been full of ups and downs, highs and lows, and more women than you can shake a stick at (among other things).
In Season 1, Hank has a one-night fling with Mia, an adoring fan who turns out to be the sixteen-year-old daughter of Karen's fiancé. Desperate to keep the secret, Hank is forced to let Mia peddle his latest novel as her own. Meanwhile, Karen is hell-bent on getting married and putting Hank behind her, until the last possible minute. And Charlie and Marcy have a threeway with Charlie's assistant, which leads to profound and unforeseen consequences.
In Season 2, Hank is hired to ghost write the memoirs of a rock legend, only to have him die of an overdose. Hank and Karen try to make a go of reconciliation, but both have a hard time with the commitment part. Becca falls in love for the first time and gets her heart broken. And Charlie is fired from his job and tries to reinvent himself in the porn business, while Marcy is forced to come to terms with her cocaine addiction and goes to rehab.
In Season 3, Karen takes an assignment in New York, leaving Hank behind to take care of Becca. Hank becomes a college professor, where he entangles himself with a student, a fellow teacher and the dean's wife. Karen convinces her family to follow her to New York, only to learn the truth about Hank's fling with Mia at the eleventh hour. This lands Hank in both hot water, and jail. Meanwhile, Charlie lands at a boutique agency and gets seduced by his new boss, and Marcy wants to move forward with the divorce.
In Season 4, Hank prepares a legal defense as his literary and sex scandal explodes in the media, but Karen and Becca refuse to speak to him. He also returns to his old tricks of managing two romances: one with his beautiful lawyer, and another with a sexy young actress set to appear in the movie version of his stolen book. Meanwhile, Becca joins an all-girl rock band, newly-single Charlie embarks on a quest to sleep with 100 women and Marcy takes up with the producer of Hank's movie.
